DTN Closing Livestock Comment 08/18 16:11
Cash Cattle Grab Another $2.00 to $4.00 Win

The cash cattle market may have waited until late in the week to trade but
it was worth feedlots' time.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

The only real positive the livestock market can be excited about is the
strong export report for cattle and the cash cattle market's $2.00 to $4.00
advancement. The livestock futures contracts all closed lower and pork exports
weren't supportive for the week's market. Hog prices closed lower on the Daily
Direct Afternoon Hog Report, down $7.25 with a weighted average of $124.09 on
6,498 head. December corn is up 3 3/4 cents per bushel and December soybean
meal is up $7.30. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 18.72 points.
